Abstract This paper is proposing a new energy management model for unlocking the cost reduction potentials at smart buildings with shared Photovoltaic (PV) panels and Electric Vehicle (EV) chargers. To address energy efficiency, reduce energy costs, and move towards a sustainable environment through the active contribution of households, this paper investigates the participation of smart buildings. The main target is to provide sustainable insights for stakeholders involved in the design, development, and management of modern urban infrastructure. The proposed self-scheduling model considers the availability of shared resources at the home level while optimizing individual and condominium energy bills by centralized energy management for shared resources. In this regard, the problem formulation is developed based on an optimization model that can be solved by non-commercial solvers to avoid more costs to the end-users. Different scenarios have been studied in the numerical results to illustrate the performance of the proposed model with the qualitative indicators. © 2024 IEEE.
