Abstract As the involvement of renewable energy sources (RES) is increasing in power system, community microgrids are gaining popularity. Energy management plays crucial role in the operation of community microgrids. This paper presents an energy management model in the community microgrid. It consists of solar panels and a battery storage system. The objective is to minimize the community energy consumption cost and maximize the community profit. Deterministic method is used to decide the action by comparing community price (CP) and retail price (RP) at each hour. The analysis is carried out for different cases by varying the load demand. The variation in output actions is studied at different load demands. Community cost is calculated based on purchasing and selling cost for a day. It is found that the community cost increases by 64.96% on increasing the load demand by fifty percent and decreases by 41.59% on reducing the load demand by fifty percent. The results indicate that as the load demand is reduced, the profit increases and community cost decreases. © 2022 IEEE.
