Abstract The realization of an intelligent environment characterized by autonomous devices, each equipped with sensory, control, and decision-making capabilities, interconnected through a network, has shifted from an aspirational concept to a tangible reality in our modern interconnected global landscape. This paradigm, known as the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), uses vast data reservoirs to optimize many aspects of human existence. This study delves deeply into the underlying notion of IIoT, exploring its far-reaching consequences across industries and sectors such as smart cities, agriculture, and intelligent grids. An in-depth assessment of the evolution of IIoT and its potential to change industries by improving efficiency, safety, and sustainability is done. Furthermore, the research digs into the complexities of the obstacles and possibilities inherent in IIoT deployment, as well as the key elements influencing technology acceptance. This study makes an important contribution by proposing a technological acceptance model customized for enterprises to manage the smooth integration of IIoT into their operational frameworks. © 2024 Bharati Vidyapeeth, New Delhi.
