Abstract The transition towards intelligent road infrastructure in smart cities has become inevitable, necessitating the inclusion of intelligence in traffic signs. Integrating advanced technologies into smart road infrastructure helps improve road safety, traffic management and the overall efficiency of the trans-portation system. Using smart traffic signs, real-Time information can be provided to drivers. Additionally, integrating sensors and connectivity into traffic signals enables communication with vehicles, facilitating active safety measures and efficient traffic flow management. In this paper, we propose a driver assistance system based on I2V (infrastructure to vehicle) communication. This system is capable of detecting and even recognizing road signs using a code. The results obtained from our proposed method demonstrate its effectiveness. © 2024 IEEE.
