Abstract The article analyzes existing approaches to building elements of a "smart city". It is shown that the key condition for the functioning of a "smart city" is the widespread use of electronic services to the population, which fully ensure a high quality of life and favorable conditions for innovation and business. Approaches to building an automated management system for a "smart city" are proposed, ensuring the creation of an innovative space with the most rational use and development of intellectual, industrial and natural energy resources. The purpose of this article is to justify the need to create and implement an automated smart city management system to ensure sustainable socio-economic development, improve the quality of life of citizens, optimize the transport system and effectively use modern information technologies. This system should integrate advanced digital solutions for managing all aspects of urban life, including service availability, improve transport and urban infrastructure, comply with environmental standards and create conditions for the development of human potential. As a result, the system will contribute not only to improving the comfort and safety of the urban environment, but also to accelerating the economic growth of the city and the country. In addition, the article analyzes potential challenges and risks associated with the implementation of automated management systems, such as data security issues and the need to modernize the existing infrastructure. In conclusion, the importance of an integrated approach and interdisciplinary cooperation is emphasized to achieve successful implementation and sustainable functioning of the smart city.
