Abstract The rapid growth of cities in Indonesia, including Bandung, presents significant challenges in maintaining sustainable living quality. Urbanization exacerbates issues such as air pollution and waste accumulation, as evidenced by the fire at TPA Sarimukti caused by the buildup of 8,000 tons of waste. Despite efforts like the Kang Pisman program, waste management in Bandung has not seen substantial improvements. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of implementing smart city concepts in Bandung's waste management system using data and indicators from the Rating Kota Cerdas Indonesia (RKCI). By mapping waste management conditions against the RKCI model, the study identifies gaps and formulates strategic recommendations tailored to Bandung's specific issues. The methodology integrates qualitative and quantitative approaches, developing evaluation artifacts and ensuring practical, impactful solutions. Findings reveal that while significant efforts have been made, Bandung's waste management services require further digitalization and smart technology integration. Key recommendations include the implementation of IoT and AI technologies to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. These steps are expected to help Bandung achieve more efficient, effective, and sustainable waste management. © 2024 IEEE.
