Abstract The coal crisis has created the need for alternatives. Countries can use the COVID-19 pandemic to create opportunities for green and inclusive economic development. Green sustainability will significantly increase economic and social stability. While many governments are focused on measures that can promote sustainable growth while also increasing employment, earning, as well as prosperity, some countries are suggesting policies that promote ecologically sound employment. Incorporating biological diversity within coronavirus-healing strategies to reduce the risk for future epidemics, increase economic stability, and promote human and animal welfare is being planned for. Incorporating biodiversity into COVID-19 rehabilitation measures helps to reduce the risk of future epidemics, increase overall economic stability, and improve human and animal welfare. The major findings of this work are that it provides alternative solutions for modern problems related to energy, and it describes renewables as being the new alternative for coal, smart buildings are the future for clean energy, Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030, and the NEOM project. © 2023 Elsevier Inc.
