Abstract The paradigm 'Smart City' is being widely used now-a-days and it can be seen as a distributed system in which different origins of information provide data to a collection of application/s that use these data to elaborate responses at strategic and tactical level. Multiple sources of data necessitate the formalization and standardization of interfaces and communications between distributed smart city components. This paper addresses the need, approach and design of a data distribution platform that provides decentralized, authorized, dynamically discoverable and real-time sharing of data among smart city applications. The proposed data distribution platform is designed in compliance with Data Distribution Service (DDS) standard defined by Object Management Group (OMG). © 2021 IEEE.
