Abstract Cities suffer considerably from climate change while having made a significant contribution to it. Cities are facing complex challenges because of urban population growth and the limitation of resources. Water plays a central role in sustainable urban development. Still, climate change impacts the quality and availability of global freshwater supply and increases the possibility of droughts and flooding through the irregularities in temperature and weather. To optimize water consumption and reduce the environmental effects of water use on the environment, the concept of smart cities offers a smart water management system. This chapter proposes an integrated, flexible, and cost-effective Decision Support System (DSS) for solving the smart water management system's decision problems. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.
