Abstract In the ever-evolving landscape of global urban development, the paradigm of urban smartification stands out as a pivotal trend. Among its key components, smart streetlights have emerged as focal points, drawing increasing attention and substantial investments from a growing number of cities. These streetlights transcend their traditional role as mere illumination fixtures, evolving into sophisticated systems seamlessly integrated with cutting-edge technologies. The significance of advancing smart streetlight infrastructure extends beyond efficient road lighting; it is a catalyst for enhancing the sustainability and intelligence of cities. By leveraging various advanced technologies, smart streetlights offer multifaceted benefits, bolstering support and services for crucial urban functions such as traffic management, environmental protection, and security. Consequently, the research and development of smart streetlights have gained recognition, establishing itself as a pivotal direction in the broader landscape of urban smartification. This article focuses on a specific facet of this paradigm - the establishment of a smart management system for smart streetlights. Taking a proactive approach, it introduces a method involving the intelligent networking of devices to the cloud. This innovative approach not only paves the way for seamless integration but also presents a concrete and viable solution for the swift integration of Internet of Things (IoT) devices into the urban network. © 2024 IEEE.
