Abstract This study examines the capabilities of a Digital Twin for smart city development, cultural heritage protection, and building preservation. By combining digital twin principles and technologies, the researchers have developed an interactive and interpretative model that analyses the key factors to take into account while developing the future generation of intelligent cities. In order to create a model that can be used as a standard for further study, it first conducts an evaluation and then analyses the data. The associated literature was looked into, including books, case studies, journals, newspaper articles, and peer-reviewed journal publications. The goal of this study is to assess the idea of a Digital Twin (DT) as the latest development in smart city administration for attaining sustainability. A DT-enabled smart city may achieve significantly greater value in their efficiency and sustainability. The DT-enabled smart city will develop into a comprehensive, dynamic, and robust smart city. © 2023 IEEE.
