Abstract Recent advancements in communication and information technology enable organizations to continue to grow and innovate in the modern era of “big data”. Due to these breakthroughs and ubiquitous computing, governments and corporations have various opportunities to rethink healthcare. Thus, both big data and intelligent healthcare systems are receiving an immense amount of interest from researchers and organizations. Unfortunately, the current body of research lacks a comprehensive examination of big data along with automated systems in the field of health care. This article makes significant contributions by providing a systematic assessment of several big data and smart system technologies, as well as offering a critical examination of the most recent developments in modern healthcare systems. In this article, we will discuss the dimensional framework of a paradigm shift. Our proposed framework provides theoretical illustrations of an intra- as well as inter-organizational enterprise structure in the healthcare context. We also discuss the pros, cons, and application of applying the big data-driven intelligent healthcare system framework (BDDIHSF) to healthcare business situations. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.
