Abstract The advancements in Artificial Intelligence of Things (AIoT) and Augmented Reality/Virtual Reality (AR/VR) technologies have led to confluence among industries. While AR and VR technologies provide captivating and immersive experiences, this integration uses artificial intelligence (AI) techniques to enhance Internet of Things (IoT) device capabilities. This chapter looks at the main areas of interest in this relationship and shows how AIoT and AR/VR may work together to solve complex problems and alter a range of businesses. AI is essential for streamlining data processing and analysis on the Internet of Things. With the help of AI algorithms, sensor fusion makes it possible to comprehend the physical world more thoroughly and accurately. By improving IoT devices’ real-time capabilities, edge AI promotes decentralized decision-making and increased responsiveness. With AIoT monitoring equipment health and AR/VR offering maintenance recommendations through immersive visualizations, predictive maintenance emerges as a significant application. The integration of AR/VR with AIoT has significant training and simulation implications. When combined with AR and VR settings, AI-driven simulations produce realistic and flexible learning environments. AI algorithms-driven personalized training routes accommodate each learner's unique learning preferences and performance indicators. AIoT in healthcare makes it possible to monitor patients remotely, while augmented reality (AR) helps with surgical procedures. These technologies have the potential to transform medical practices and improve patient outcomes. Smart cities benefit from AIoT's data-driven decision-making potential and AR's visualization capabilities. Urban planning becomes more knowledgeable as stakeholders use augmented reality (AR) to investigate suggested modifications, encouraging community involvement and well-informed decision-making. Retail experiences are being revolutionized by AI-driven consumer data, personalized shopping routes, and the integration of augmented reality (AR) for product viewing and in-store navigation. Platforms provided by the Internet of Things that seamlessly connect with AR and VR environments boost enterprise collaboration. AI is being used by collaboration technologies to improve communication and decision-making in virtual meetings, and these sessions are becoming more engaging. AI is used in the entertainment and gaming sectors to improve content suggestions and modify stories in AR/VR experiences, giving users a more unique and interesting experience. The many effects of integrating AIoT with AR/VR are summarized in this abstract, which highlights the ways in which these technologies work together to solve problems, spur innovation, and prepare the way for a day when intelligent, immersive, and context-aware solutions are a part of everyday life. © 2025 selection and editorial matter, Arun Sekar Rajasekaran, Fadi Al-Turjman, and Suganyadevi S; individual chapters, the contributors.
